La guerre à la une. Irruptions politiques dans Hygiène de l’assassin et Une Forme de vie d’Amélie Nothomb Claudia BIANCO Université de Strasbourg, France Résumé. Dans mon intervention je tacherai de démontrer quelles sont les idées politiques d’Amélie Nothomb par rapport à la guerre et à la violence. En effet, je me suis aperçue que les critiques ne se sont pas suffisamment arrêtés sur son engagement et son attention aux problèmes sociaux. Ceci dit, il m’a semblé intéressant de faire découvrir de quelle manière l’actualité constitue la toile de fond de deux romans en particulier, à savoir Hygiène de l’assassin, premier ‘accouchement’ narratif de l’écrivaine belge, publié en 1992 et Une forme de vie édité en 2010. À mon avis il y a plusieurs similitudes entre les deux œuvres. Nothomb, de manière discrète, manifeste ses opinions envers les nombreux conflits qui ont ensanglanté l’Iraq à partir du début des années ‘90, par la bouche de ses personnages, deux obèses monstrueux qui, ironie du sort, vivent isolés de la réalité qui les entoure. Outre à parcourir des pages d’Histoire parfois oubliées, nous sommes invités à réfléchir sur la méchanceté et sur la cruauté des hommes qui s’entretuent et, par conséquent, sur des événements actuels qui, dans la trame du texte, surprennent et choquent comme un fait divers. Dans ce sens la narration romanesque, prenant l’allure d’un article de journal, brasse plusieurs domaines et dévoile ses précieux et agréables avatars. Abstract . During my intervention I will try to reveal what are Amelie Nothomb’s political ideas about war and violence. In fact, I have noticed that critics have not focused enough on her political commitment and her attention to social problems. So, I thought it was interesting to show how contemprary events constitute the backgrounds of two of her novels, particularly Hygiène de l’assassin , the belagian writer first narrative “birth” ever, published in 1992 and Une forme de vie , published in 2010. In my opinion there are several similarities intercurring between the two novels. Nothomb, in a quite discreet manner, shows her opinions about the harsh conflicts taking place in Iraq since 1992. She does that by letting her protagonists talk: two monstrous obese characters living, in a twist of fate, in constant isolation from the reality around them. Not only we come across some historical facts sometimes forgotten, but we are invited to think about the evilness and the cruelty of men killing each other and, as a consequence, we are invited to consider the presence of contemporary facts inside the plot of the novel which astonish and shock the reader as well as a news item. Following this path, the fictional writing comes closer to the diary style, handling variuos fields and unveiling his precious and pleasant avatars.
